Apostille for an affidavit

An affidavit is a sworn, written statement made under oath by the person signing the statement.

The true identity of the person making the statement as well as the contents of the statement in the affidavit are usually
verified by a notary public. The notary public will place his or her notary seal on the written statement.

Being a verified statement made under oath, an affidavit is basically a promise that the information contained in the affidavit is accurate and true.

It is the equivalent of a testimony before a court.

If you need to present an affidavit in a country which is a signing member of the Apostille section of the Hague Convention you will need to have the affidavit apostilled, for it to be valid in that country.
